Courtney and Tom are the owners and operators of Brisbane Bayside Jewellers. After travelling the world with backpacks in toe over a decade ago, they arrived back in Australia with a vision of carving their own path.
Courtney had an extensive background selling diamonds and jewellery in large chain retail jewellery stores and boutique jewellery stores. We saw a gap in the market. For really high quality timeless investments, designed for the customers, without the retail shop front and overhead charges, and corny under educated sales people.
The fact that a sales person in a jewellery store would sell you just about anything to get a sale, even if the product wasn't exactly what you had dreamed of even of, or even matched your fashion sense or any other jewellery you already owned. Coupled with poor quality manufacturing that saw heartbroken and disgruntled customers coming back to repair their jewellery time and time a again.
She drew a line in the sand and she said "I can do this better, people don't deserve to not love their jewellery and not have last a lifetime." So just over a decade ago, the brand Courtney Jade Designs was launched with Tom heading operations and marketing, and Courtney offering a personalised client experience, unmatched.
After 3 years blood, swear and tears, and a massive learning curve, the unthinkable happened. Not only did Courtney fall pregnant with their little boy, Tom was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare Stage 4 blood cancer and the prognosis wasn't bright. Courtney was forced to close the business and care for Tom while raising their Son.
Five years on, we are happy to say that Tom made it, and after a long recovery process, the spark was re-ignited to fulfill the mission once again, and Brisbane Bayside Jewellers was born.
